No SA racing today due to the excessive heat but the rest of the fields look competitive with quite a few shorties looking the standouts so we will look for some all ups and value from our first fives.

Nice tough programme at the Gold Coast for Magic Millions Day and Ascot has been postponed until tomorrow due to the excessive heat. Considering Perths temperature will reach 44 today and tomorrow it is a cool 39 degrees hopefully the meeting will go ahead as we have a nice special in the last.

There is some value around the Gold Coast races and if we can find a winner or two there we will be in the money.

2014 and we start the year with plenty of confidence although the fields in Morphetville are somewhat average and the WA Turf Club for some reason can't even find a Saturday Metro meeting and have opted for a country meeting in Bunbury with country prize money. That is very poor.

A super start to 2014

3 winners and a second from our 4 specials, the winner of the Perth Cup, a winner from "one for the ladies" backed from 17's to 8's plus the normal 12 outright winners from 41 races including 5 from 8 at Randwick. Thats what I call a good day. Hope you cleaned up.

Damien Oliver had a super day as expected but his rides on Shining Knight and Black Tycoon were very average. They would have scalped him at Ascot if Black Tycoon had not won after locking it in on the fence with nowhere to go and Shining Knight should have won by panels of fencing bar for a dud ride.

The Perth Cup looks like a very even race but we have settled for Black Tycoon as our bet. The horse comes out of WFA form and looks very well handicapped dropping to 55.5kgs. D Oliver looks like the jockey to follow with a nice book of rides today.
